NCFDD November Newsletter: Are You Ready For A 14-Day Writing Challenge?

A Note from Kerry Ann

Once we reach this point in the semester, I take a deep breath and reflect on everything we've accomplished so far (even though we still have over a month to go). This month, I am feeling incredibly thankful to be able to offer the different types of support and accountability that our members need. We just wrapped up our largest Institutional Membership Drive ever, welcoming 15 new colleges and universities to our membership roster, and we look forward to providing so many new faculty, grad students and post-docs with the support, resources, and mentoring they're seeking.

Welcome to our newest Institutional Members!

How are YOU feeling at this point in your semester, quarter, or sabbatical? If you're feeling fully-supported, extremely productive, and have found a delicious work-life balance, that's great! And if you're struggling, lacking support in certain areas, or you haven't gotten as much done this term as you wanted, our resources this month are designed for you!

First and foremost, if you're looking for even more support and accountability, consider joining us in the Faculty Success Program. The program has been so successful in helping faculty members increase their productivity and find work-life balance that registration for the spring session (January - April) filled up incredibly fast. But, to accommodate the faculty members who were hoping to participate, we've added more spots! These extra spots will go quickly, so be sure to register ASAP! If you want to learn more about the program, join us for a "5 Secrets to a Super-Productive Semester" preview webinar this week.

Because this is the time of year when stress can start escalating, check out our core curriculum webinar this month, "Strategies for Dealing with Stress, Rejection, and the Haters in Your Midst." Plus, we're kicking off a new multi-week course focusing on self-care, "Being Lazy and Slowing Down:" the Role of Self-Care in Productivity. Finally, the single most effective way to boost your productivity is by starting a daily writing habit. If you’ve ever wanted to experiment with daily writing in a supportive community, be sure to read our feature article this month and consider registering for our upcoming 14 Day Writing Challenge! We had 1,881 academic writers in our summer challenge and we hope this one will be even bigger (register below).

We're thankful for the community that we've built here at NCFDD, and hope that our resources this month will help you find that added layer of support or accountability that you need.
